Krakow Schools
Kraków is students’ city. History of university in Kraków dates back to the fourteenth century. Academy of Krakow has been founded that time. Tradition of the University is kept for this time. The most important and the biggest Universities are Jagiellonian University, University of Science and Technology and Economic University.
Jagiellonian University
Jagiellonian University is the oldest and the most famous polish school. This University has been founded at to beginning of the fourteenth century. Studium Generale was determined in 1364 by Kazimierz Wielki. That is beginning of Jagiellonian University. First lecture took place in 1367 for majors in: liberation art, medicine and law. The authorities want to get permission from pope to open major of theology, but pope Urban V didn’t agree for this.
Now the Jagiellonian University has very imprested activity. In University educate above 40 000 students. Now Jagiellonian grows especially rapidly, that is why III Campus UJ is being expanded.
AGH University of Science and Technology
AGH University of Science and Technology is the biggest and the most prestigious school of technology in Poland. It is highly valued not only in Poland, but also in the whole word. AGH University of Science and Technology come into being in 1912 by polish engineers with General Chief Jan Zarański. The University at first educated only engineers of mines.
Before 1920 AGH University of Science and Technology rented teaching rooms in Luterańska Street. The new building was built from subsidy state the twenties, and now it still uses them.
Now University educates more hundred students on 15 technical majors. II Campus University of Science and Technology will be built in Bronowice Wielkie.
